Time to explore Angkor during quiet season Cambodia has been opened for tourism for months, but Angkor visits are yet to match the numbers in pre-Covid times (pictured, in Bayon temple), as reported by New York and quoted by Bangkok Post on 27th March 2022. Worried that the recovery would takes a little bit longer than expectation, tourism operators in Siem Reap have started a new marketing strategy to attract tourists with some adventure interests. "People should realise that right now they have a time-limited opportunity to enjoy all all of these activities without the crowds and with attractive price and packages, " said David-Jaya Piot, president of Cambodia Hotel Association in Siem Reap (CHASR) as quoted by Phnom Penh Post on 3rd March 2022. Last year, the association launched a promotional video campaign to encourage both tourists to visit Siem Reap. The 30-minute video highlights the top attractions in Siem Reap, opened with a young woman exploring the temple complex. "People should realise that right now they have a time-limited opportunity to enjoy all of these activities without the crowds and with attractive prices and packages, " Piot said in the report, adding that tourism prior to Covid-19 contributed 35 percent of Cambodia's GDP.
