China's largest gold producer, Zhongjin Gold Corp., said Friday (19 September 2014) that President Wang Ronghu has been detained by state anticorruption agents. The company didn't specify the reason for Mr. Wang's detention, but the company's filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange contained language that is usually used as a euphemism for corruption. It said he was taken away on Wednesday. Mr. Wang, 50 years old, assumed Zhongjin'?s presidency in November 2012, after being nominated for the position by former Zhongjin Chairman Sun Zhaoxue, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency. Before that, Mr. Wang built a career in the gold-mining industry in China'?s northeastern province of Liaoning. Mr. Sun, who was president of Aluminum Corp. of China until Tuesday, has also been detained, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said Monday.
