The saying "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again" has been embraced by an upmarket Beijing shopping mall, which has removed other unpopular artworks, but hopes the latest sculpture outside its entrance will finally prove lucky. The latest artwork, a golden ox sculpture placed inside Seasons Place mall, in Beijing's financial district next to the country's securities watchdog on Wednesday (14 December 2016) night, was likely to appeal to the regulator's officials and also investors, according to Internet users. Its outward appearance was similar to the bronze bull statue that stands on Wall Street, in New York, and would help to generate an optimism mood since a "bull" market refers to a market in which share prices are rising, it said. Every installation placed outside the mall, near the China Securities Regulatory Commission's headquarters in Beijing Financial Street could impact on millions of China's stock market investors, because many superstitious people believed the objects depicted in the artwork could hint at future market developments, the report said.
