Cw 8604 769448 on 2W09 Chapel Lane LC 19.2.2024 The semaphore signals and the old level crossing gates have gone, and on Monday the 19th February 2024 the new automatic level crossing barriers are in use. This was the first day of the operation of the new crossing barriers that have replaced the manually worked gates. Mid morning sees a Northern train service passes Chapel Lane level crossing near Parbold in West Lancashire. The train unit is no 769448 with the 09.52 service from Stalybridge to Southport under headcode 2W50. This is a rural crossing between Parbold and Appley Bridge with a road that leads down to a few houses and the old Douglas Valley Chapel, hence the name of the lane.
