JA Solar Holdings Co. said its shift to shipping higher-price solar modules instead of cells paid off in the December quarter, as the change in product mix and exceptional demand in China led to a 65% increase in revenue. °Demand in the China market was as strong as expected, as developers and utilities rushed to meet aggressive government-directed goals for the year, ± said Chief Executive Baofang Jin. °We started the quarter with all of our capacity booked.± He added the company will be expanding into locations such as North America, South America and India, and plans to double planned installations of its downstream projects. The Chinese solar-panel maker said revenue climbed to 3.6 billion yuan, or about $576.4 million, sharply exceeding analysts¯ expectations of $539 million.
