Die hausgemachten Sportwagen, eine Nachbildung der Ariel Atom, gebildet von den chinesischen Auto Handwerker Wen Chao, wird dargestellt in einer Anlage in Longchuan Wugong Dorf, Stadt
The homemade sports car, a replica of the Ariel Atom, made by Chinese car repairman Wen Chao, is pictured at a plant in Wugong village, Longchuan town, Zhuzhou county, Zhuzhou city, central China's Hunan province, 3 May 2016. A Chinese car repairman spent less than a month completing his own replica of the Ariel Atom, a road legal high performance sports car made by the Ariel Motor Company based in Crewkerne, Somerset, England and under licence in North America by TMI Autotech, Inc. at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. Wen Chao, now 34 years old, lives in a village in central China's Hunan province. He spent 21 days and about 9, 000 yuan (US$1, 385) assembling the homemade sports car which has the maximum speed of 145 kph. The car, 3.4 meters long and 1.65 meters wide, weighs 980kg and is powered by a 39-horsepower engine from an old compact car. Equipped with independent suspensions for all the four wheels and rear drive, the car is able to reach 100 kph around 10 seconds. For safety reasons, Wen also armed the car with a steel plate on the bottom and four disc brakes. It can also drive through bumpy roads easily with six shock-absorbing springs. Wen has test-driven the car for more than 6, 000km and not found any big problems.
