Lion Lodge is a luxury overnight accommodation at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve in Kent, England. It's a fully immersing experience that gives guests the opportunity to sleep right next to lions! The unique lodges offer guests the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the lives of Adras, Oudrika and their three adorable cubs, the Reserve’s lion pride. The Lions at at Port Lympne wild animal park in Kent are Barbary lions, sadly this subspecies has been extinct in the wild since the 1940s with only around 100 still existing in captivity around the world. These lions are all descended from lions held in the King of Morocco’s private menagerie. Famed for their long dark manes and aggressive nature, it is believed that they were the lions used in Roman times to fight against gladiators in the Coliseum. All subspecies of lion are now threatened in the wild mainly due to conflict with people. The first of its kind worldwide, the Lion Lodges are timber clad, Manhattan loft style buildings, set within the lion’s natural and spacious habitat. Featuring picture windows in both the master bedroom and the open plan living area, guests will be just a breath away from magnificent lions. For the last 30 years The Aspinall foundation has been dedicated to returning captive bred animals to protected wilderness areas and reserves worldwide. It is through park visitors and short break profits that allows this conservation work to continue.
