Creel fishing for languistines, or dublin bay prawns as they are also known, is common on the west coast of scotland. It is considered by many to be one of the more sustainable forms of fishing, with minimal environmental impacts. however there are concerns that porpoise and young otters can become entangled in the creels, leading to them drowning. Much of the poroduct is shipped to lucrative markets in Europe, notably Spain.
