Cottages at the Scottish seaside village of Pittenweem in Fife. They are in the misshore area of the port.The cottages are right on the water and look out over the Firth of Forth. In years gone by Pittenweem was and important seaport dating from the 12th century.It became a royal burgh in 1541 and in 1575 was the 12th richest town in Scotland. It has had a colourful history and prospered on salt production and agriculture. It even burned withches in the 17th century. Today it has an active inshore fishing fleet, exporting shellfish and crustacea to France, Spain and Holland. It has become a popular holiday destination and many of the cottages, especially the waterfron ones , are hiliday lets or second homes. it also has a thriving artist scene.
