The COVID-19 pandemic was first confirmed to have spread to England with two cases among Chinese nationals staying in a hotel in York on 31 January 2020. The two main public bodies responsible for health in England are NHS England and Public Health England. As of 24 October 2020, there have been 1, 324, 742 total cases and 48, 941 deaths in England. Unlike in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where it is administered by the devolved administrations healthcare in England is the direct responsibility of the UK Government.
