A Chinese shopping mall in the northern city of Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, launched a promotional campaign not only to boost its business but also to raise the public awareness to remember the Japanese invasion during the World War II. A group of clerks put on Chinese and Japanese army uniforms during the war and presented different shows of fighting Japanese soldiers to customers shopping in the mall. The campaign had started after the 77th anniversary of the July 7th Incident, said a manager with the mall. The campaign was launched to make Chinese people remember the history of the Japanese invasion, he added. The July 7th Incident, also known as the Marco Polo Bridge Incident or the Lugouqiao (Lugou Bridge) Incident, was a battle between the Republic of Chinas National Revolutionary Army and the Imperial Japanese Army, often used as the marker for the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937¨C1945).
