CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CELEBRATING THE END OF EXAMS IN THE CITY CENTRE ON MONDAY JUNE 9TH DESPITE THE UNIVERSITY BANNING THE OVER THE TOP CELEBRATIONS. Residents in the historic city of Cambridge are furious after the university refused to stop students throwing flour and champagne in the streets after a week of post-exam partying. Shoppers say the renowned city centre has been turned into a battlefield with students spraying sparkling wine and throwing flour at their friends as they leave their final exams. They say crowds of excited undergraduates have been causing chaos by spilling onto the streets - despite the over-the-top celebrations bring banned in public by university authorities. Residents were today (Mon) seen trying to dodge the celebratory students as one group smashed a bottle of champagne on the ground. Four senior proctors from the university were seen trying to control the students, who continued to party despite the fact the celebrations were banned two years ago in a bid to retain an air of calm for those still studying. University bosses clamped down and introduced a rule asking students to leave quietly and forbidding the blocking of pavements and roads and causing damage.
