Burgusio has got some 860 inhabitants and is located at 1, 240 m asl, in the shadow of the Watles. If you walk across the centre, if might notice the frescos at the house façades, which are by the way very well-preserved. The Principe Castle is located at the southern border of the village, in the 13th century it was constructed by the bishops of Chur. Above the village, there is another sight, that is to say the Benedictine convent of Marienberg (Monte Maria). This Baroque building is characterized by a Romanesque crypt of the 12th century, absolutely worth seeing. However, the parish church is not the only church of Burgusio: at the Monte Maria convent, there is also the S. Stefano church, dating back to the 11th century. Furthermore in the north of the village, there is a church dedicated to S. Nicholas, dated with the late 12th century. As you might notice, the village is rich in cultural goods, but also nature has got many charming corners to offer. The Piana di Malles, the skiing and hiking area Watles with the beautiful Lago del Prete lake are only some of the attractions of this area. Last but not least, the village is traversed by the cycle route Via Claudia Augusta.
