--FILE--View of fossilized dinosaur footprints left by a group of long-necked and herbivorous lizard-foot dinosaurs, which dates back 190 million years to the early Jurassic Period found, in Maotai town, Renhuai city, southwest China's Guizhou province, 21 August 2017. At least 250 dinosaur footprints have been found inside a liquor factory in a renowned wine town in southern China. These fossilised footprints date back 190 million years to the early Jurassic Period. The tracks were left by a group of long-necked and herbivorous lizard-foot dinosaurs, which are the largest land animals that have roamed the earth. The footprints show at least 14 dinosaurs measuring five to six metres (16 to 19 feet) long walked in the 350-square-metre (3, 767-square-foot) site, according to Prof. Martin Lockley, an expert in dinosaur tracks who is involved in the project. The discovery is 'significant', according to experts, as it is rare to find early-Jurassic-era dinosaur fossil sites in China. And this is the largest fossil site from the period in China that features lizard-foot dinosaurs, also known as Sauropods. Experts also found fossilised scratch marks which indicate that some of the dinosaurs might have been swimming when they passed the area. It is said that part of the area was submerged by water, and the huge animals had to paddle through the water. Therefore, their feet brushed through the ground, leaving the scratch marks. The footprints were first discovered in 2013 by workers from the Diaoyutai Liquor Company in Maotai, southern China's Guizhou Province.
