My name is Ruslan Salhazanov and I am 12 years old. I now study at the No. 8 School in Beslan, a small city in Russia s North Ossetia, where a deadly hostage siege happened on Sept. 1, . The incident claimed the lives of , including my mother and baby sister. I ran out from a giant hole on the wall and survived the tragedy. That is the most terrible experience I have. My relatives now include my grandma, my father, my uncle, my aunt and my lovely cousin. I went to visit my mother s grave this year with my father at the new cemetery that the locals have dubbed a City of Angels. I wrote some words on a piece of paper and told my mother I am no longer afraid.
