Night scene from the summit bivouac of Mt. McLoughlin, Oregon at about 1AM, July 13, 2017. The Milky Way was out in full blast until the orange moon appeared over the forest fire skies to the east over the lights Klamath Falls. This shot shows the moonlight w/ some of the Milky Way visible overhead along w/ countless stars. Fourmile Lake, Pelican Butte, & vehicle lights along Highway 97 are also visible. I had never taken one of these night shots before so the constellations are entirely in their precise order. I hope to do another one of these kind of scenes soon, thought not as high up as the wind was fairly constant & I stayed within my sleeping bag because I was a bit freezing. Fortunately the foundational rocks of the old fire lookout sheltered everything.
