Not only is the work physically punishing, but for years farmers have seen it as a necessary evil - as the cost of shearing outweighs the price the wool can be sold for. Many sheep farmers burn their fleeces instead of sending them to market...But being fleeced by the world market is at an end, as the global demand for wool is booming.
